To submit your own, click here. Some submissions were skipped but I may go back to these and add a few of them still. Possible reasons I skip submissions is if they are unclear or similar to something previously submitted. If you submitted a DIY and it didn't get added, feel free to resubmit, and make sure it is clear, unique, and bird-safe! The next areas I may work on include the genetics section and taming section. | 06.02.07 | I've set up the new section, Budgie DIY (do it yourself). I've got one entry so far, my very own DIY for replacing flimsy cuttlebone clips. My plan is that the page will be populated by submissions from budgie owners the world over. To submit your own budgie DIY, click here. Whoops, I'm a little embarassed because I left behind the custom fonts I was using for my graphics when I got a new computer. So now a few new items on the main page don't exactally match, but it's okay because I'm planning on rearranging things anyway. |
| 04.15.07 | I've done a few minor updates. A new video on the Budgie Behavior page of my budgie Rho bathing using a wet leaf of kale. Also I've added a new site search feature on the main page. It's a Google powered search of this website, which will make it easier to find information you might be looking for. Test it out, and if you have any suggestions just let me know. Also, I'm still working on developing the new DIY section. It's been hard to find time (and energy) to do updates since I've gotten a new job for which I have to commute 3 to 4 hours round-trip every day! So please be patient, thanks! |
| 09.26.06 | I've created a new article called Advanced: Budgie Care. It is a more in-depth and comprehensive look at budgie care than before seen at The Budgie and Parakeet Place. Check it out, it's really detailed, and I'll probably be adding to it just a little over time. I will also be adding a new section soon called Budgie DIY that will include recipies and instructions for making your own budgie treats and budgie toys, etc. Most of the items included will be submitted by viewers, so if you have any ideas to help me get the section started, let me know! |
| 08.17.06 | It's been a while since I've been able to update the site, due to many things going on, some very bad, some very good. Today I did minor updates to the links page. I added a few new links that had been submitted, and also checked for any broken links. There is a new links section for sites with budgie, parakeet, and bird products available. Remember if you have a site you would like listed, submit it to me for review. I plan on doing more updates soon, so check back! |
| 06.03.06 | The Budgie & Parakeet Place now has its own domain name! The page is completely up and running on the new server, so it's time for everyone to update their bookmarks to the new URL: http://www.budgieplace.com/ There should now be no more problems with pages randomly failing to load or with pictures/graphics randomly failing to load. I've also updated a few of the FAQ's and added a couple new ones. Over the next few days I will continue to do small updates to the site and probably add a few more FAQ's. |
| 05.25.06 | There is a new feature included in The Basics: An Intro to Budgies. It's called the "New Budgie Checklist" and it's a printable list of everything a soon-to-be new budgie owner needs to buy and set up before bringing their bird home, as well as a guide to picking the right budgie. It's a PDF document, which requires Adobe Acrobat to read and print, and a Microsoft Word version is also available. |
| 05.20.06 | The Budgie & Parakeet Place photo album has been updated. It now includes pictures of all of my current budgies as well as photo albums to flip through. I actually did this update about a month ago but forgot to log it here on the "What's New" page. Today I also added links to meet my other pets, Ashley, Emmy, and Bloopy. Check it out at the Album. |
| 03.05.06 | I have added several new rare varieties that were not included before to the Budgie Colors/Mutations page. I have obtained photos for most of them already thanks to the courtesy of several people who are credited under each lent photo. The new varieties listed include saddleback, slate, anthracite, blackface, and mottled. |

The reason it's been so long since this site has been updated is because Yahoo! deactivated my account, so I no longer had access to the website, the group, etc. But I was finally able to have my account reactivated and now I have full access again. I redid the entire design concept, aided by JavaScript, and hopefully the site is easier to navigate. These updates are just the beginning. In time I hope to update all the info/advice on the informational pages and add some new stuff. By the way, I am taking suggestions. Tell me what you think would be a good addition to this webpage! |
| 07.20.01 | Hello my neglected page viewers! Well, as those of you subscribed to my e-mail list may know, I've been working on getting this page fully functional. It's going to take a lot of work, but now that school's out I'll have plenty of time to dedicate to this page. Yesterday I updated the Budgie Links Section. The page is now in tables and I got rid of broken links, and added a few new ones. Today, I fixed the Frequently Asked Questions section. I realized that all of the FAQ links were broken and some of the FAQ pages weren't even linked at all, so I went through the HTML of all the FAQ pages, and they should be completely functional. Thank you for your patience as I update and fix all of the rest of the pages. |

| 08.20.97 | I'm so excited! Opal & Grapes (don't have pictures yet) have laid 6 eggs so far, and the first will hatch on the 25th. They're very tiny! Opal is being a very good mommy, and Grapes is a proud father of 6! Last night I went to a budgie meeting and they were talking about violets! (My absolute favorite) Then, at the raffle, I won a BEAUTIFUL violet normal English budgie! He's 3 years old, and I plan to breed violets now for show. So now my flock consists of 9 birds: Persephonie, Diamonds, Apollo, (Ruffles is my brother's bird), Grapes, Opal, Blueberries, Coconut, Butter, and Johnny! I named him after the person who donated him to the raffle. Well, the pictures turned out AWFUL! I think now I'll borrow someone's digital camera so I won't have to do this over again. Well, come back often! |
